Ilona Kickbusch is known throughout the world for her contributions to innovation in public health, health promotion, and global health. She has had a distinguished career with the World Health Organization and Yale University. She contributed importantly to shaping the new discipline global health with a focus on global health governance.

She is a sought after speaker and adviser on policies and strategies to promote health at the national and international level. She has published widely and has received many prizes and honours. She is a member of a wide range of advisory boards in the academic and health policy arenas.

She now works as an independent global health consultant based in Switzerland. In particular she serves as senior health policy adviser to the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health.

She is a political scientist with a PhD from the University of Konstanz, Germany.
